Day 1 - After a morning departure from your local area, we will travel to your hotel with a stop en route around lunchtime at a place of interest before continuing our journey to your hotel with plenty of time to relax before dinner and the first of your two nights stay.

Day 2 - After a full English breakfast, we will travel to historic Skipton and step aboard a canal barge at Skipton Wharf for a 60-minute leisurely cruise through the gentle Yorkshire countryside on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Opened in 1816, this is the longest canal in Britain to be built as a single waterway and stretches for 127 miles through large cities and peaceful Dales villages and market towns. The canal was the M62 of the 1800s carrying many boats full of passengers and cargo every day, but the pace of canal life is much slower today! The barge is fully weather protected with comfortable seating, large windows and central heating, and your skipper will point out places of interest as you cruise along. Afterwards, we will return to the hotel for dinner and your second night’s stay.

Day 3 - Following breakfast, we will depart for the stunning Lake District and our first excursion of the day, a 20-minute ride to Lakeside on a steam-hauled train on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway in the picturesque Leven Valley. At Lakeside, we will board a sight-seeing boat for our second excursion, a 40-minute sail on England’s longest lake to quaint Bowness-on-Windermere. The early afternoon will then be at leisure in this attractive lakeside town with its beautiful walks and many craft shops and attractions before we commence your journey homeward after a most enjoyable break.

This break is a day trip and therefore does not use a hotel
